Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) leverages technology to help keep you abreast of possible delays that could affect your trip. It uses the navigation system in your BMW car to alert you to the incident and offers detours to help you bypass traffic jams.
RTTI is included in the BMW Navigation system on most BMW vehicle models. This revolutionary application provides up-to-date traffic information right on the control display of your car or SUV. Whenever there is a traffic incident along your route, RTTI offers alternative routes to help you avoid delays. If the delay is expected to last longer than five minutes, RTTI will calculate detours to help you get to your destination more quickly.
Best of all, you always get reliable information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The information is transmitted via an FM broadcaster and received through a dedicated tuner. The tuner operates independently in your entertainment system, so it will not interfere with regular radio broadcasts. Any reported incidents are then displayed as icons on the navigation map you see, sorted by distance from your current position.
